Chelsea Flower Market - oil on panel 12 x 16 |
This is one of those paintings that I let myself play with. I got bogged down halfway through and had to let it percolate for a long while. The addition of dark shapes in the background got me going again when I was stuck. (thanks Wendy!) I didn't know quite what I wanted or where I was going with it, but I was okay about it. Overthinking can spoil the exploration process.
I love this, and I'm going to New York for Labour Day weekend. I want to check out the market. You make it look awesome.

thanks Barbara, I hope you have a wonderful time in New York on the long weekend.
DeleteWow, Sally this has come out FANTASTIC! You can really feel the buzz and prettiness of the place. I'm glad you felt my comment helped in some way.
ReplyDeleteI will have to visit the Chelsea Market when I finally get to the Big Apple one of these years - it sound wonderful!!
aww Wendy, thanks for your comment and for your feedback. I really appreciated it, as I said before I was really stuck. It's funny how one can easily see in someone else's work what might be needed, but one can get completely stymied when stuck on one's own work! Another artists feedback can sometimes be the catapult we need to go to another level. Thank you!
DeleteYour flower market district is stunning! Very bright painting.
